A group seeking public support to rename a street in downtown Greenville after a famous civil rights leader held a press conference Wednesday afternoon.
Members of the Fifth Street/MLK completion committee are urging Greenville city council members to rename another section of Fifth Street after Doctor Martin Luther King Junior. Part of that street is already named in King's honor, but the group is seeking to rename the entire street after him.
City council members have indicated in the past they will consider all options and go through the proper procedure when considering a name change for a street.
