It all started when an alarm sounded inside the Craven County schools Board of Education building around 8:30 and over a dozen people called the 911 center in New Bern. New Bern police spokesperson Chris Stansbury says due to the number of calls and the close proximity in which they were received, response was full force. Authorities secured the area around South Glenburnie and Neuse Road where the building is located, and once inside found no threat from either a person or a device. Still, workers in nearby businesses were wondering what exactly was going on. The employees at the Board of Education building were able to return to work about two hours after they were evacuated. What triggered the alarm is under investigation.
