New details about the story involving the arrest of a corrections officer on several sex crimes involving minors.

Authorities arrested 37 year old Patrick Wazny at his Newport home in Carteret County last night on 17 charges.

Authorities were tight lipped about what has been taking place inside Waznys mobile home, but did tell us the 2 victims are under the age of 15 and expect their are more victims who haven't come forth.

A slew of warrants sit at the Carteret County Courthouse detailing 17 counts of sex crimes against 37 year old Patrick Wazny of Newport, a corrections officer in Pamlico County.

The two victims, both females are under the age of fifteen. Authorities can't detail exactly what has been taking place inside his mobile home but have charged him with statutory rape, crimes against nature, indecent liberties and sexual exploitation, stating he did possess child pornography.

The S.B.I.S. says these tips have been coming in for several months and say they have investigated Waznys home before.

And say Wazny may have been sexually involved with the victims for at least a year

Wazny is currently in the jail under a 500 thousand dollar bond, his next court date is set for October 30th.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A North Carolina corrections officer at Pamlico Correctional Facility in Bayboro has been arrested for sex crimes.

Authorities arrested 37 year old Patrick Wazny of Newport at his home Wednesday night.

The arrest results from an investigation from an on-line internet operation.

Wazny is charged with ten counts of indecent liberties with a child, three counts of statutory sex offense with a minor under the age of 16, two counts of crimes against nature, one count of second degree sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of third degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Wazny is in the Carteret County jail under a $500,000.00 secured bond.

A Department of Correction spokesman says Wazny's job status with the state has not changed as of Thursday morning.

Sex is everywhere!!! If a fifeteen year old was not a where that she was being introduced to sexual acts, than she must been looked away in her room. I'm sorry but those who say you can not watch your child 24 hours should have made aware of it when they were with their child. I bet that this girls parent did not care about what her daughter was doing, in fact she was probably worried more how to get her own self-satisfactions. So please stop making excuses for teenagers who are more than ever curious and eager to grow up!!!!

You say this individual should be punished for this crime, so be it. But for you to say that an eye for an eye!! Do you even know the true story or are you going buy what you are reading. I can tell you that this guy that you are talking about made a horrible mistake, and I bet is greatley remorseful for. The problem with this judical system, is the lack of concern of why this person acted in this manner, and how it could of been prevented. There are things that happen to us in this world that are uncontrollable, but if we don't talk about it, sometimes it consumes us and we make choices that are not good. Before you make judgements about someones' son, brother, father please remember that it could have been someone in your family. God is the only!!! one who can judge, and you nor myself have a say what is to be the out come of this. Please stop making him out to be a child molester. I personally know that feeling I know at the age of 15 you better know what's right rom wrong...

I currently own the website www.correctionsaffairs.com and think that a bunch of your memebers would be interested in using my site to expose what really happens inside correctional facilities. Yes not all things are bad or are all things good. I am trying to get out the truth about what really goes on in jails and prisons. who else would know what really goes on in jails and prisons than people who regularly speak with inmates and prisoners. I am also having this site for people who work in corrections and am trying to showcase the men and women of corrections. If you take a look at my site and see the potential for this great site please help me get the word out and if your really interested maybe we could talk about your acquiring this website from me. represent corrections officers with the pride they deserve and many times dont get shown. Thanks, Cash Viedt correctionsaffairs.com

thank's jon I'll just call them scum, people who can't find a job elsewhere.G.Gordon Liddy is right about prison guards.

Posted by: Jon Location: Western NC on Oct 19, 2008 at 01:09 AM
Marie...DOC has Correctional Officers, not guards. I dont go through the high amounts of training, work long hours, and endure high amounts of stress just to be called a "guard". Calling a Correctional Officer a "guard" is just like calling a Detention Officer a "jailer". The term of an Officer is because we're professionals. I personally perceive it as a slap in our face to be called a title that's not indicative of our professional status.

as a mother of a former inmate. i meet nice DOC guards and some that were arses. MOstly the women were the hateful. But since this guy could not control his self i feel sure he will get what he deserves. because guards are know to leave records out for inmates to read and pass the word on child molester. but he has to go to prison first. most of the time punishment for selling drugs is harsher that molesting children. But he spend enough money he will walk. because money talk in the judicail system. if you think it don't then you are just naive.

" Former DOC Employee " Do you even have any children ? I am fed up with people always blaming parents ! Most parents have to work for a living , some work long hours , 6 and 7 days a week ! Alot of kids have mastered the art of hiding things from their Parents, pretending to be all sweet and innocent in front of them and wild things else where , not saying that's the case here ! Thank God none of mine ever did that , that I know of , if you can watch any or all , of these kids 24/7 , be my guest ! Then You have mastered something no parent in this world could ever do and you need to teach it to us all ! Nothing and No one in this world is perfect ! At any rate , if he's guilty of the crime , he will do the time for the wrong he chose to do !

Who is to say that this "child" wasn't looking for "love" in the wrong place? Where were the parents and why did it take 17 charges for this man to be stopped? How did he gain access to her? Who blew the whistle? If parents pay any attention to their child, they should seek professional assistance if there is a problem detected within the child, before they end up in a courtroom as a "victim" of a sexual predator or pregnant, drug-addicted, in jail or in a morgue. We all know that any sex related conviction will land a predator in prison and on the Sex Offenders Registry and there should be much more self control by adults. I do not condone any violation of an 'innocent' child, but some of today's teens are so out of control as a result of lack of attention from the right sources. HE knew better and SHE should have been more closely monitored and protected! HE will get what he deserves, and his life will go on, but who will protect her in the future and how will she deal with this?

Posted by: TM Location: Wash. NC on Oct 18, 2008 at 03:14 AM
To X.. Judging your grammar, it is obvious you are uneducated. Had it been my child, I can assure you there would have been no arrests, just a funeral. I believe in the old addage, "eye for an eye". I am quite sure, in time, he will be someones girlfriend, and then justice will be served.

Posted by: tyler on Oct 17, 2008 at 04:52 PM
FYI age of consent in NC is 16. Not saying that its right just pointing it out

Posted by: A Mother Location: MHC on Oct 17, 2008 at 08:50 AM
To "x": So because a CHILD has a sassy mouth, that gives him the right to sexually abuse her? As an adult he should know better. You can be the best parent and your children may still not turn out as you wish. Children have free will. Some will rebel others will turn out to be productive adults. I am so sick of people blaming the parents.

Posted by: Say wht former DOC employee??? Location: Lost on Oct 17, 2008 at 07:59 AM
What in the WORLD are you talking about "former DOC employee"?? If the person is over 18 years of age they are legally able to consent sexual act's, which means if they wanted to have sex with this man, SO BE IT! There are laws in place for those being harassed, but this is NOT about sexual harassment, this is about minor's being sexually assaulted by a sick individual!

Posted by: Former DOC Employee Location: NC on Oct 17, 2008 at 05:10 AM
There are enough sex crimes taking place on the individual prison sites, (between consenting adult employees of DOC)! Some DOC employees are not dedicated and are just there for a paycheck and I agree that they will hire any warm body to wear a uniform and fill a post! Some of those in Corrections' Uniforms should be wearing the brown (medium security) uniforms, if not the grey (maximum security), but it isn't "what you do, but who you know." Poetic Justice??? He will get what he deserves, and the "victims" will possibly be sujected to another "weak" mind. In the majority of cases the victim is only labeled as such due to age. If they were 18 or older, what would have been said or done? It's okay to take advantage of a person because of age? I think not. But there are plenty of those over 18 who are also being sexually harassed, exploited and victimized inside the work force. A uniform does not make it right, whether it be DOC or any other agency representing the law!!!

Posted by: C/O Location: Jville on Oct 16, 2008 at 08:39 PM
no stacey he WILL NOT GET OFF SCOTT FREE we as criminial justice employees and law enforcement offiicers are held to a higher standard if any thing if he is convicted he will get the harsher end of the stick. and he WILL NOT come to Pamlico Correctional Institution simple conflict of intrest if any thing he will apply for anf get P-Con (protective control custody) and since the only two prisons in the NC DOP (Pamlico and Hoke) he will go to Hoke

Posted by: Dustin Location: Jacksonville on Oct 16, 2008 at 08:33 PM
as a current DOC employee i am apaulled at his actions but i am also rather pissed at the public for just casting such judgment on the entire department. not all of us are alleged child molesters. some of us take our job seriously. like me every day i put on my uniform and go to work putting my life on the line so john q. public can rest assured that they are safe is the greatest thing i do eacxh and every day. i quickly learned that this is a thankless job and i'm cool with that but NEVER did i expect for the very people i protect to just cast premature judgment like this. let me remind you all that we have a justice system and he is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law not in the court of public opinion. so i will close with this quote form the bible "let him that has not sinned cast the first stone"

Posted by: x Location: x on Oct 16, 2008 at 07:37 PM
Sometime we have to realize that there are alot of mature, grown, and sassy girl this generation. We will never know what was said upon the man and the child. Both are at faught, and if the girl isn't. The mother is, she not maintaining to her child actions. The suspect lack of knowledge anyway.

Posted by: HEY JON Location: WASHINGTON on Oct 16, 2008 at 04:45 PM
I did work for DOC, and after I realized they would hire anything that could breathe and that my degree didn't really give me an upper hand there, I exited after 5 years, but your right, there are good officers there, but they are few and far between these days.

Posted by: Anywho Location: NC on Oct 16, 2008 at 04:07 PM
Really interesting that the public is quick to point the finger at DOC but nobody has even mentioned any consideration for the victim here. Don't you people care there's a victim? A minor victim???

Posted by: Jon Location: Western NC on Oct 16, 2008 at 03:23 PM
Just because there are a few worms about, doesnt make the entire DOC a bunch of bad apples. We still serve & protect the public from those that have committed crimes and if Wazny is found guilty, we'll protect you all from people like him. Yes Ted, we're not all drug addicts & child molesters, some of us in the DOC (like me) are very dedicated, diligent, & goal-oriented. Alot of us look at this job as a duty & a responsilbility, not just a paycheck. So before you all begin to cast stones at the DOC because of the ill-advised actions of a few officers, take into consideration of the 12,000 other officers who diligently work to keep you safe. For some of you that wanna take cheap shots from the peanut gallery, maybe you need to don a uniform & stand a post to see how we protect you from those that threaten our safety and security. Sarah & Stacey, if Wazny is convicted and goes to prison, he wont go to Pamlico. He'll be sent to a much more secure prison. It would be a conflict of interest.

Posted by: Sarah Location: fayetteville, nc on Oct 16, 2008 at 12:52 PM
I agree with Stacey. I wanna see him sent to the same place to be controlled by his fellow employees. lol.

Posted by: Stacey Location: NC on Oct 16, 2008 at 11:56 AM
Let's hope he goes to prison at the same prison he works (worked) for. Now, that is a great plan of justice. It's sad however with the history of punshiments these sicko's get, he just might get off scott free.

Posted by: g_vegas Location: greenville on Oct 16, 2008 at 11:16 AM
It is a shame when one of your own is this sick.

Posted by: Ted Location: Greenville on Oct 16, 2008 at 11:01 AM
Our blackeye just keeps swelling and swelling. With the DOC willing to hire anyone with a heartbeat and a High School diploma filth like this will continue to tarnish the rest of us with the DOC. Just try to remember we're not all drug addicts and child molesters.
