The third day of witness testimony has wrapped up in the third double murder trial against a Pamlico County man.
Vaughn Jones is accused of killing Richard and Rosa Flowers in January of 2003.
Assistant district attorney Anne Kirby spent most of the day trying to show that Jones had a motive to kill the Flowers. He worked for them and regularly borrowed money from them. The state says Richard Flowers cut him off from personal loans in November of 2002.
The defense questioned a witnesses credibility, a convicted felon Jones had hung out with that evening. The defense also continued to talk about what it calls sloppy police work by the Pamlico County sheriff's office.
Jurors are scheduled to take a field trip to the scene Thursday.
