James Taylor will be playing five free concerts in North Carolina as he tours the state to support Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Taylor has concerts scheduled in Charlotte, Asheville, Chapel Hill, Raleigh and Wilmington beginning Sunday. Raised in Chapel Hill, Taylor has at times used his musical celebrity to highlight political candidates in North Carolina.

The five-time Grammy Award-winner will encourage Obama supporters to get out and vote early. One-stop voting begins in North Carolina on Thursday.

Obama has been heavily investing in North Carolina to try and swing a state that hasn't voted for a Democratic president since 1976.

Republican rival John McCain has been increasing his presence here to defend the state.

To VBush. Whoever wins; Obama or McCain, will have the biggest mess ever to overcome. It won't happen over night. It will take years to overcome the Bush mess. And yes it might even get worse before it can get better.

I have a question for all you Obamanites. IF he wins, and things STAY in the trash can or get worse, will it still be George Bush's fault? Will you still be banging away at him as if he were still in office? Or will you regret your decision to vote for a liberal socialist and admit it?

Is anyone surprised. It just goes to show you, when your a singer/songwriter, movie star or most anything that generates a massive income but requires little effort, your brain is squash. And don't anyone tell me that singing or acting is anything like work.

You should have put James Taylor's picture on your web site. He is more handsome then OBAMA.

So What? Just add his name to the growing list of entertainers who have made it rich off of the American dream and then think that socialism is the best form of government. Does anyone see the hypocrisy here?

James Taylor was a Heroin Addict, and drug abuser. Should I go on.

Give me one good reason WHY Palin can have Hank Williams Jr. at her rally but Obama can not have James Taylor at his rally. That is the lowest thing I ever heard some one say in my life. You republicans are so self centered, you all deserve to lose this election, I will rejoice when that happens.lol

I wonder if these celebrity endorsements and concerts really work. Not even Springsteen could help John Kerry.

Just what we need another celeb in politics, or is he trying to get back on the charts.
