Army officials are investigating the death of a paratrooper who died from a gunshot wound in a barracks room at Fort Bragg.

The Fayetteville Observer reported Tuesday that 24-year-old Pfc. Matthew R. Grandy of Wake Forest died early Sunday.

Grandy was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team of the 82nd Airborne Division.

Division spokesman Master Sgt. Tom Clementson said the death will be investigated by the Army Criminal Investigation Command.

Grandy is at least the second 82nd Airborne Division paratrooper to die at Fort Bragg from unnatural causes in less than three months. The Army also is investigating the death of Pfc. Luke Brown, whose body was found July 20 in a car on the post.

This has nothing to do with NO BAMA nor Mc Cain! Soldiers suffer from depression and PTSD and they need help with dealing with what they saw and did in the war. It is not republicans that did this. it was the wonderful democrats who cut the military's budget. No money no help. Like I said nothing to do with No bama nor Mc Cain.

1st off, I am supporting the military. suicides are everywhere! not just with soldiers. to blog: nobody was responsible, these were self-inflicted wounds. Obama and mccain have nothing to do with this, if we look at statistics, suicide is happening everywhere.

This country has never treated our veterans like they deserve to be treated. After a person serves their country..I feel like you should be entitled to free health care, free prescriptions, special parking, a whole d@mn house, state of the art prosthetics, and toilet paper along with nice check each month. I'm voting for Obama because of the promises he made to other people. I work, I'm not in service...most of the programs he is developing won't help me..but will help my neighbors. "Am I my neighbor's keeper?" "Yes, I am!"

Too bad that Obama and Biden support the troops and Republicans like McCain and our very own Senator Burr are against providing troops benefits; like health care and the GI Bill. McCain did not back the new GI Bill, but voted for it after intense political pressure. Burr voted AGAINST it! Who supports the troops now? I'm a veteran myself, and I am looking forward to the new benefits that the DEMOCRATS created and voted for.

Nevermind; I already found out. Whoever is responsible for these killings should be shame of themselves. If there were any disagreements, killing was not the answer. But, I do not have the whole story, so I will not make any further judgments.

Politicians (particularly Obama) need to understand that even though our soldiers may leave the war, the war never leaves them. Our military needs support; not Obama.
