Republican presidential candidate John McCain is asking his supporters to "fight for a new direction for our country."
McCain opened a town hall-style event Monday at Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington with an impassioned speech in which he implored his supporters to make history. Trailing in national polls, the event was McCain's first public appearance in North Carolina since May.
His rival, Democratic candidate Barack Obama, has visited North Carolina several times, and polls indicate the race is now a tossup in a state that hasn't voted for a Democrat in three decades.
McCain's speech appealed to both the future of the country and the future of his campaign as he told the crowd, "Don't give up. Be strong. Have courage and fight."

To Alicia..You are correct. The military will abide by the orders of the Commander and Chief; however they know the Democrats significantly reduce military spending when they are in office. Take notice young NCO's finally are in new housing at Cherry Point. Bush pushed this along. The Dems do not understand that without national security a country will not have economic prosperity. OBAMA would have problems obtaining a confidential clearance, if he was properly investigated. The FAR LEFT crowd, of the Democratic Party, has stolen the ideals of its past party platforms. The Democratic Party doesn't help poor people, it OPPRESSES them! There are too many people who are lawyers in CONGRESS and to few with a military background. Wake up America!

To "Obama Snake Oil" it doesn't matter what Fox or Witn mention people are going to vote for who they wanna vote for regardless. If that many people were afraid of Obama, then I feel that McCain should be ahead. What do you think????

Let me just say that being from a predominantly military town, if I know the military right they do not want some wet behind the ears senator playing war games and trying to bring them home from a war that is not completed yet. That goes against everything that they stand for when they joined the military in the first place. The media will distort what is really going on in Iraq to high heaven. In the Bosnian conflict my boss was a Croatian and he had satellite TV in Croatia and the news reports there compared to the news reports here were like night and day! All propaganda! As far as the polls go, go to AFR (American Family Radio) website and look at the poll they have going asking "Do we think Barack Obama is experienced enough for the Presidency" Over 85,000 say "No". I agree with this poll! Eat him alive McCain/Palin! Semper Fi!
