Republican presidential candidate John McCain is asking his supporters to "fight for a new direction for our country."

McCain opened a town hall-style event Monday at Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington with an impassioned speech in which he implored his supporters to make history. Trailing in national polls, the event was McCain's first public appearance in North Carolina since May.

His rival, Democratic candidate Barack Obama, has visited North Carolina several times, and polls indicate the race is now a tossup in a state that hasn't voted for a Democrat in three decades.

McCain's speech appealed to both the future of the country and the future of his campaign as he told the crowd, "Don't give up. Be strong. Have courage and fight."

To Alicia..You are correct. The military will abide by the orders of the Commander and Chief; however they know the Democrats significantly reduce military spending when they are in office. Take notice young NCO's finally are in new housing at Cherry Point. Bush pushed this along. The Dems do not understand that without national security a country will not have economic prosperity. OBAMA would have problems obtaining a confidential clearance, if he was properly investigated. The FAR LEFT crowd, of the Democratic Party, has stolen the ideals of its past party platforms. The Democratic Party doesn't help poor people, it OPPRESSES them! There are too many people who are lawyers in CONGRESS and to few with a military background. Wake up America!

To "Obama Snake Oil" it doesn't matter what Fox or Witn mention people are going to vote for who they wanna vote for regardless. If that many people were afraid of Obama, then I feel that McCain should be ahead. What do you think????

Let me just say that being from a predominantly military town, if I know the military right they do not want some wet behind the ears senator playing war games and trying to bring them home from a war that is not completed yet. That goes against everything that they stand for when they joined the military in the first place. The media will distort what is really going on in Iraq to high heaven. In the Bosnian conflict my boss was a Croatian and he had satellite TV in Croatia and the news reports there compared to the news reports here were like night and day! All propaganda! As far as the polls go, go to AFR (American Family Radio) website and look at the poll they have going asking "Do we think Barack Obama is experienced enough for the Presidency" Over 85,000 say "No". I agree with this poll! Eat him alive McCain/Palin! Semper Fi!

The amazing thing I find in this election is the lack of information from the news media. Marwan, your posting is correct as I researched this in several places as well. Then there is the ACORN story. Witn mentions the news about Nevada, however, Fox mentions that many states are finding voter fraud like Ohio. Last night they had a guy say he registered 73 times? Where is the big three? No mention of it? Now, the important facts the media hasn't mentioned. 80% of Americans are afraid of Obama and 14% are afraid of McCain. This poll was released on Fox this am. The media already has Obama measuring for curtains in the whitehouse? The real news here is we are not getting the truth, true that the media is in the tank for the guy. I think you will be suprised by the election. Most will vote for McCain regardless of polls.

MARWAN; I personally thank you for taking the time to post this information. While I was already aware of it, hopefully some of these blind Obama kool-aide drinkers will read it and re-think their positions. I have little faith this will happen, but you have made it easy for those who are ignorant to get a little education. Hopefully SOME of them will connect the dots. I fear for our nation with Obama as the President. As far as our media not spending any time on this, well as you and the rest of already know...they are primarily in the tank for Obama and will not report much of anything that will show Obama for what he really is or harm his campaign. We are currently on a fast track to destroying ourselves from with in much the same way that Rome did. MAN as a race is basically stupid. History continues to repeat itself no matter what. The world is over run with ignorance that ignores history despite the facts.

Oh, and by the way, remember the college roommates that where born in Pakistan? They are in charge of all those 'small' Internet campaign contributions for Obama. Where is that money coming from? The poor and middle class in this country? Or could it be from the Middle East? And the final bit of news. On September 7, 2008, The Washington Times posted a verbal slip that was made on 'This Week' with George Stephanapoulos. Obama on talking about his religion said, 'My Muslim faith'. When questioned, 'he made a mistake'. Some mistake. All of the above information I got on line. If you would like to check it - Wikipedia, encyclopedia, Barack Obama; Tony Rezko; Valerie Jarrett: Daily Times - Obama visited Pakistan in 1981 The Washington Times - September 7, 2008; The Times May 10, 2008. Now the BIG question - If I found out all this information on my own, Why haven't all of our 'intelligent' members of the press been reporting this.

Posted by: MARWAN Location: NC on Oct 13, 2008 at 09:13 PM
Now, we have Obama running for President. Valerie Jarrett, was Michele Obama's boss. She is now Obama's chief advisor and he does not make any major decisions without talking to her first. Where was Jarrett born? Ready for this? Shiraz, Iran! Do we see a pattern here? Or am I going crazy? On May 10, 2008 The Times reported, Robert Malley, advisor to Obama, was 'sacked' after the press found out he was having regular contacts with 'Hamas', which controls Gaza and is connected with Iran. This past week, buried in the back part of the papers, Iraqi newspapers reported that during Obama's visit to Iraq, hewas having regular contacts with 'Hamas', which controls Gaza and is connected with Iran. This past week, buried in the back part of the papers, Iraqi newspapers reported that during Obama's visit to Iraq, he asked their leaders to do nothing about the war until after he is elected, and he will 'Take care of things'

BARACKS HISTORY Rezko was one of Obama's first major financial contributors when he ran for office in Chicago. In 2003, Rezko threw an early fundraiser for Obama which Chicago Tribune reporter David Mendelland claims was instrumental in providing Obama with 'seed money' for his U.S. Senate race. In 2005, Obama purchased a new home in Kenwood District of Chicago for $1.65 million (less than asking price). With ALL those Student Loans - Where did he get the money for the property? On the same day Rezko's wife, Rita, BR purchased the adjoining empty lot for full price. The London Times reported that Nadhmi Auchi, an Iraqi-born Billionaire loaned Rezko $3.5 million three weeks before Obama's new home was purchased. Obama met Nadhmi Auchi many times with Rezko. More Baracks history to come

BARACK HISTORY After Columbia, he went to Chicago to work as a Community Organizer for $12,000 a year. Why Chicago? Why not New York? He was already living in New York. By 'chance' he met Antoin 'Tony' Rezko, born in Aleppo Syria, and a real estate developer in Chicago. Rezko has been convicted of fraud and bribery this year. Rezko, was named 'Entrepreneur of the Decade' by the Arab-American Business and Professional Association'. About two years later, Obama entered Harvard Law School. Do you have any idea what tuition is for Harvard Law School? Where did he get the money for Law School? More student loans? After Law school, he went back to Chicago. Rezko offered him a job, which he turned down. But, he did take a job with Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland. Guess what? They represented 'Rezar' which is Rezko's firm. More History to come.

BARACK HISTORY Around 1979 Obama started college at Occidental in California. He is very open about his two years at Occidental, he tried all kinds of drugs and was wasting his time but, even though he had a brilliant mind, did not apply himself to his studies. 'Barry' (that was the name he used all his life) during this time had two roommates, Muhammad Hasan Chandoo and Wahid Hamid, both from Pakistan. During the summer of 1981, after his second year in college, he made a 'round the world' trip. Stopping to see his mother in Indonesia, next Hyderabad in India, three weeks in Karachi, Pakistan where he stayed withhis roommate's family, then off to Africa to visit his father's family. When he came back he started school at Columbia University in New York.It is at this time he wants everyone to call him BARACK not Barry. More history to come.

Everyone always questions the change that Obama promises; so now, I have a question. What kind of change does McCain promise?

When I look at what happened to Venezuela after Chavez was elected, I fear the same fate for America if Obama is elected. Socialism is not pretty.

If North Carolinians care at all about the safety and security of thier families and themselves, they better listen and listen well.If Obama wins, we can kiss our safety goodbye.

As McCain attempts to regain some control on his life..we need to remember that this all started when the republicans in 1999 slid into the Omnibus Spending bill all the deregulation that has led us to this point in time...Clinton could do nothing about it, he had no Veto support...but McCain and Phil Graham were there for this; degregulation is the problem--that is why jobs leave..why we are in debt to the chinese, the saudi's, and everyine else...look up Milton Freidman and " Shock and Awe" economics..degregulate everything, which has led to the near collapse of this economy...McCain has said he is for degregulation..what is needed is an FDR style NEW DEAL that will rebuild the infrastructure (that means some people will have to really work), place safeguards so we can have money to live on, save and retire...so please take everything he says with not a grain of salt but a 10lbs bag of salt

After reading all the posts pertaining to NC I still find it interresting what the liberals say. NC has been a Red State for three decades and they still think they will convince us that this year is different. I am just basing this on the facts and not personal choices. Some states just vote the party lines like in the northern states. All the states are predictable in this respect. The bible belt south has been democrat but always votes for a republican for president. They didn't vote for Carter either and Obama is on the same parallel course.

Forget it McCain. I'm fighting for a new direction all right, but it's not yours. Obama08.
