Greenville-area residents and groups are working together to help the families of more than 300 suspected illegal immigrants arrested in a raid at a poultry processing plant last week.

The Greenville News reported Sunday that the Alliance for Collaboration with the Hispanic Community and local residents have met to identify lawyers, counselors, Educators and interpreters to help the families.

Some 330 workers were arrested in a raid at the Columbia Farms plant in Greenville County.

A company based in Raeford, N.C., called the House of Raeford owns the plant.

House of Raeford processes chickens and turkeys in eight plants in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Louisiana and Michigan.

A regional coordinator for the Catholic Charities of the Piedmont Region said several churches and ministers also will help.

At the risk of sounding cliched--what do you people who cry moon tears for illegals not understand about the word "ILLEGAL"? At the risk of being called heartless, I do not believe that a child should be called an American citizen unless that child has at least one American parent. A naturalized citizen is considered an American. I do not wish any one to be barred from coming to work in America if they do it legally.

To PlugUgly, thats exactly my point. If welfare was cut off you would see alot more Americans going back to doing these jobs so illegals would not be needed.

I would like to say, that I am proud of these people that are trying to help these families. We need more people like you! For the ones that have an issue with these illegal immigrants i ask that you remember this, When you decide to have a slice of tomato keep in mind and thank that illegal immigrant that picked it for you to eat. I as an American Citizen, wouldnt want to have to work like these people have to make a living. So I thank all that are trying to help these families that have been effected by this.
