When about 3,000 people gather in Raleigh for a biennial conference of North Carolina community colleges, they'll get a taste of their own food.

Students participating in the culinary programs at 10 community colleges will prepare refreshments for a reception for system President Scott Ralls on Sunday and for an afternoon break on Monday. About 3,000 faculty, staff, presidents, trustees and students from 58 community colleges are expected to meet for the N.C. Community College System Conference.

The theme for this year's conference is "Beyond the Horizon: Preparing Students for a Global Advantage."
