Verdict For Former Ferry Director

The former head of North Carolina's ferry system, Jerry Gaskill, was convicted Thursday of lying to federal investigators. He was found not guilty though of
conspiring to cover up illegal dredging in Currituck Sound. Gaskill was accused of ordering workers to illegally carve a
channel in the seabed floor as they hurried to prepare a route for a ferry between mainland Currituck County and Corolla on the
Northern Outer Banks. Gaskill could receive up to five years in prison.
