The average price of gas in N.C. is down 11 cents since Tuesday, but we found at least one station selling gas for less than three dollars.
The owner of the BP in the Tyrrell County town of Columbia tells WITN his station is selling regular unleaded at $2.99 a gallon. He says the price he pays for gasoline has dropped, allowing him to drop his prices at the pumps. The station across the street is even cheaper at $2.94 a gallon.
Elsewhere across eastern Carolina we found low prices at $3.37 in Elizabeth City, $3.41 in Jacksonville, and $3.57 in Washington.
North Carolina Gas Prices.com, which you can find on the left side of our homepage, reports the average price of gas across the state is now $3.65.
