A winter weather advisory has been issued for all of eastern Carolina except Carteret, Onslow, and Duplin counties from 6pm Thursday through 4am Friday. Light freezing rain and sleet will be possible.
It wasn't so much the rain, but the wind that caused concern Wednesday in Onslow County. Alberto's wind gusts knocked around some property at businesses like Seaview Fishing Pier in North Topsail Beach. There were some folks who ventured into the choppy seas, something officials urge you not to do when the surf is rough. Beachfront store owners tell us the Seaview pier was heavily damaged by Hurricane Ophelia in September. They say repairs were finished last week, in time for it to be able to stand the brunt of Alberto's winds.
