Obama Grabs Barbecue Lunch In Asheville Save Email Print

Sen. Barack Obama stopped by an Asheville barbecue restaurant to grab a takeout lunch in a break from his preparations for his next debate with Sen. John McCain.

The Democratic presidential candidate greeted diners at 12 Bones Smokehouse on Monday and returned to his motorcade after collecting an order of ribs, brisket, pulled pork, corn pudding and sweet tea.

Obama said the mountain of food was not all for him.

He told reporters outside the Grove Park Inn that Monday's falling stock values shows that last week's $700 billion rescue package isn't the end of what must be done to fix the U.S. economy.

Obama said Washington should help with high gas and food prices, support state and local governments facing layoffs, and extend unemployment insurance.

Don't even joke about that VBush.

Obama is a pure socialist. Why don't we all just hand over our paychecks to the Federal Government and let them dole out what THEY think we need? We can all be the same no matter how hard we work. They can send us coupons for groceries, gas, car payments, mortgage payments, light bills, etc. We won't have to do anything....we can just let "The Great Exalted Obama" take care of all of us.

LOL @ VBush! "Obama said Washington should help with high gas and food prices, support state and local governments facing layoffs, and extend unemployment insurance." While you're at it government, why don't you just buy my groceries, pay my bills, let me stay in my house for free... oh wait, already doing that. The problem is not that we can't see what he's trying to do. It's pure unfettered Socialism. The problem is that so many people think they want it. The entitlement mentality in this country is out of control. Entire generations of people have been taken care of by the government and it's easy, but you can't name me one who ever got ahead, let alone wealthy, by putting his hand out.

Dave is obviously not a Carolinian and during his time here hasn't embraced the local culture. Otherwise he couldn't possibly ask such a question. Editor; the next thing he'll want to know is where the pork was pulled from.

Where's my post. Too much truth!!!

Barbecue? What kind? Hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken, or steak? Editors Note: In North Carolina "Barbecue" usually means pulled pork

Well, Zeb, we're no longer in the 70s, so you need to work on your prose.

So $700B wasn't enough. It will bail out the lenders but it won't stop the bleeding. Read between the lines when he says it isn't the end of what needs to be done he really says we need more money which means more taxes. every American just got a bill for about $3000 each with the bail out/"rescue". Washington should help with gas and food prices, extended unemployment insurance, etc, etc. More government programs. All rhetoric for a word called Socialism. What we need is less government. Support state and local goverment?? How about support business owners and the people that can stimulate the economy by providing jobs and bring money into state and local communities. I believe he wants to tax those people right out the gate. What's Obama going to do about gas prices? Alternative fuels after development will be readily available in 5-10 years. Independence is the key there but Heaven forbid we drill for it and provide jobs and boost our own economy. Where's this debate?

"Refusal to address these issues . . " What the heck? And McCain IS addressing these concerns? Hmmm.

Who would Al-Qaeda want to be our next President? Obama or Navy McCain?

For "someone who has published 2 memoirs" you are "not an open book". Who is the real Obama? We want to know. Address your involvement with ACORN, & why you did not push for reform on Wall St. when you had the chance before this melt down. You look & speak pretty, but we want the meat. Your refusal to address these issues makes you look guilty of something.
