The annual event took in less money than the year before.

Earlier in the the day organizers told us they were right on target with donation as they were about that time last year.

But once the last call was taken, the tally came up close to three thousand short... with a tally of $38, 465 dollars.

Last year they raise $41, 401.

I hope they use some of the funds they collected to finally do something with the Gawd aweful embaressment of a website they run. Seriously, take a look at it, you can't even view pictures or any other information about wanted persons. Its been "under construction" for at least 2 years!

Well, its not like this telethon helps the crime problem anyway. I'm willing to bet that they came short on money because the cititzens of Greenville are tired of the crime and have lost faith in the GPD.

Even though the economy is down, past allegations and the public's confidence in Pitt County law enforcement does not help.

I have never even heard of this telethon. Perhaps there just wasn't enough advertisment that this was going on.

With the economy in the shape it's in, it is really not surprising. People just don't have the extra cash to give.
