If you're under the age of 18 and in the city of Kinston you better be off the streets from 11 p.m. until 5:30 a.m., unless you have permission.
The city council voted unanimously Monday night to implement a curfew to help combat crime. It's actually a trial curfew as officials are going to see how it works for the next 120 days. Council member Alice Tingle says she believes this new policy will not only help keep young people safe, but help the public safety department enforce the laws.
Kids under 18 can be out after curfew if it’s because of a job or structured event. The first 30 test days will involve education. After that, curfew breakers can expect citations.
