Keeping domestic violence victims safe from those who harmed them is the aim of a new tracking device in Pitt County. The Pitt County Justice and Victim Services Communities are piloting specialized tracking devices capable of notifying domestic violence victims of status changes to their protective orders. The device is known as the Victim Information and Notification Everyday service or "VINE." Once a person petitions the court for a protective order, the system is activated. Domestic violence advocates say timely access to information provided by "VINE" helps victims safely plan for themselves and their children.
