Fewer Deaths on Roadways Over Holiday

Fourteen fatalities were reported over the holiday weekend on North Carolina highways. It's less than last year, but still a loss of life. Three of those highway fatalities were reported here in Eastern Carolina: One in Elizabeth City, Roanoke Rapids and Murfreesboro. Nearly 1800 highway patrol officers were on duty over the weekend. Last year, during Memorial Day weekend, 19 traffic deaths were reported.
