It was a sea of red, white and blue that filled cemeteries across the country Monday and here in Eastern Carolina as veterans were honored for their sacrifices.
Miniature American flags placed on thousands of grave sites served as the back drop for a Memorial Day ceremony at the National Cemetery in New Bern.
Those attending the Craven County Veteran's Council Memorial Monday morning saw those flags, along with the Marine Corps Color Guard and a 21 gun salute by Cherry Point Marines.
