Thursday was proclaimed as "Poppy Day" in the city of Greenville. Disabled Veterans and the American Legion were passing out red poppy pins and collecting donations all over town. Greenville Mayor Don Parrot designated the day to remind America about the debt owed to those who have fought and died in combat. The red poppy represents the color of blood, a symbol of lives lost in all wars. The money donated for the red poppy pins, goes to the Disabled Veterans Association in Greenville to help transport veterans to the V.A. Hospital in Durham.
