Hyde County has been an economically distressed county for decades. But more than a million dollar investment by a Nash County based organization might have them back on their feet.
1.3 million dollars in checks was presented to county leaders Friday by Golden Leaf Foundation. The grant money is slated for health care, infrastructure, and community development projects. Engelhard Medical Center will receive more than a half million dollars. Improvements will also be made to the Mattamuskeet Lodge and the sewer line that serves that wildlife reserve.
The Golden Leaf Community Assistance Initiative assists targeted communities with projects that will help stimulate economic activity.
