A hospital which services nearly 30,000 prisoners across the state is running out room.
Prison officials at the Central Prison in Raleigh want more money from lawmakers to fund a new hospital. The Correction Department is asking for 152 million dollars. The money will help build a hospital with 120 beds, an operating room, and more cells for inmates with mental health needs. The new prison hospital is a part of Governor Easley's proposal to spend nearly 765 million dollars on construction.
