Fire lit up the early morning sky this morning as a home burst into flames, trapping the homeowner inside.

Friends and neighbors told us 48 year old Natalie Bright Taylor lived alone inside her two story house in Washington. Investigators now confirm, she was sole person to die in the blaze.

Her house was completely engulfed in flames just before one this morning. Witnesses say they saw the victim trying to get out of her two story window while rescuers tried to get to her.

But heat and mini-burst of flames became overwhelming at times, according to witnesses.

Authorities tell us her dog and cat also died in this fire.

Investigators say they do not know the cause. But friends say they were told the fire started in the back of the house in the kitchen.

The S.B.I. has been called in to assist in the investigation, although deputies tell us they do not suspect foul play.

Previous Story:
Firefighters tell WITN they responded a fully involved blaze at the home at 611 Old Second Street just after midnight. They say the fire had also spread to an abandoned house next door.

Officials say one person was transported from the scene to Beaufort County hospital and pronounced dead around two Saturday morning. The identity of the victim has not been released.

These events are tragic and sad. This is not the place to reprimand or criticize, whether you know the family or not, rather it is a place to offer condolences and mourn the loss of 3 lives(MsTaylor and her two beloved pets). My heart goes out to the family.

Joe, how is this story different from other fire stories? I see nothing distasteful about the story. I hope a well, thorough investigation is carried out and that if any foul play did go on, the appropriate person/persons will be reprimanded.

I feel that this story is extremely classless. I was with her daughter when she received the phone call stating her mother had died. I only hope that my friend and her family do not read this story. Every detail does not have to be released. This is extremely uncalled for. The entire station should be ashamed. Absolutely distasteful journalism. Someone should be reprimanded.

I think you should let the investigators handle this, every detail doesn't need to be released and fortunatley they don't need your ruling in order to investigate it.
