Making Way for Progress on OBX

A popular gathering place on the Outer Banks finally came down to make way for new condominiums. Quagmires, most recently an open air restaurant and tavern, was built in the 1930s, first opening as the Croatan Inn in Kill Devil Hills. Souvenir hunters have stopped by this week to take little bits of history home, or snap a few pictures. Quagmires on the beach is one of several old iconic Outer Banks buildings that have been demolished in recent years to pave the way for new rental cottages or condos.
