On and off quick downpours will be possible through Sunday afternoon. Heavier rain could bring another 1 to 3 inches of rain to a few locations late Sunday and into Monday afternoon.
The city of Kinston is now seeking bids for the cleanup of an old power plant building filled with asbestos. Back in March WITN reported on the boarded up building that has been abandoned for decades. Kinston City Council has hired an engineering firm to put together bid specifications. The bids will then be opened next month. The cost, estimated from several hundred thousand dollars up to one million, could determine if the city moves ahead with the cleanup. We'll keep you posted.
