A disabled man was found covered in his own feces with maggots on his body and in clothes that hadn't been changed in three months. Now, Washington police say the nursing assistant who was supposed to take care of him has been arrested and charged with felony neglect.
57-year-old James Isaac Spencer Jr. of Washington was an employee with Carol Variety Home Health in Plymouth, hired to take care of 31-year-old William Jason Adams at his home at Shalom Place in Washington. Police say a friend called them after finding Adams, who has cerebral palsy and is confined to a wheelchair, living in filth.
Spencer told police Adams refused his care. One resident who lives in the same assisted living facility says she tried to offer help. We did talk to Adams, but he had no comment for us.
The investigation into how all of this happened continues. We'll be following this story and keep you updated.
