The 17-year-old Taylor is in jail on a $50,000 secured bond.

People on here have already tried and convicted this man. Have any of you ever heard "innocent until proven guilty"? I don't want to think that he did this to a child, I do know it happens all too often tho, and I feel for this child weither the man accused is guilty or not. If this happens to be someone making accusations out of spite then the child will suffer just as much as if it actually happened. People are cruel. Most of the people on here making comments are cruel and heartless. I have compassion for this child, I know what she is going thru with all the questions and different people being introduced in her life. I'm sure she is scared to death. I pray that the family or anyone else has not done this out of spite, that child is being put thru hell right now. Both families are going thru hell. Pray people. Leave the verdict and sentencing and whatever to the Courts. Thats what they are there for.

As the mother of a 6 yr old, I feel horrible for the parents and this child. I cannot imagine trusting someone with your child and this happening. The fact of opposite sex does not matter. Child molesters can molest the same sex just as well. You cannot trust ANYONE these days to watch your child. That is why I never "drop" mine off at a babysitters. I just take her with me and if she can't go, I don't go. What a sick and sad world this has become. Was this child seen by a doctor that confirmed she has been molested? Bless her heart...

Please lets not judge the family of this precious child!I myself have a two yr. old child and I know several teenage boys who are capable of watching my child. What both families need now more than anything is CHRIST! This small child and family need healing, strength, comfort & encouragement. This young man needs punishment but he also needs HEALING. That is the only thing that will guarantee he will NEVER repeat this horrendous crime again. Only Christ can give that kind of healing!! So please let's not waste our time point fingers, instead let's use this time to bend our knees and our hearts and pray for BOTH families. I myself know personally how this kind of thing will affect you having been a victim myself! But I also know now how the healing power of Jesus can turn it all around. To the childs family i would like to say may God take your hand surround you with love & guide you every step you take. To the young man i say may God convict, forgive and heal you as only He can.

I agree that this is disgustingly wrong.....HOWEVER...What is the difference in a teenage boy babysitting a little girl, and a teenage girl watching a little boy?!?!? Statements such as "why would anyone let a teenage boy watch there little girl" are ignorant, that's blaming the parents and that's just wrong. Think before you speak, people!

Okay.. for all of you who are all against lonnie, you should know a few things first. I worked with lonnie for over a year up until last week. I know he doesnt have the best homelife and i also have been told that this was his neice that he was watching. His brothers had been stealing from him over the past month, what would stop them from starting this? There hasnt been any proof that he has done this, just accusations. If he DID do this, i admit it is very sick. Lonnie never seemed like the type of person who would do something so violent. He seemed very harmless and well mannered. I just hope they REALLY do deep investigations to prove that lonnie did this before he is sent to prison.

This is horrible! He should be ashamed of his actions, at 17 he knows exactly what he was doing. He shouldn't even have a bond!

Posted by: other Location: Side on Sep 11, 2008 at 08:16 PM
I have more details to this story than I am at liberty to say. But Lonnie was not just some stranger that watched the 3 year old. I don't appriecate everyone putting the parents down. As a comment below Lonnie was a very well mannered child and very respectable. but the parents did the right thing by involving the law. Don't judge a book by it's cover! I know both sides, I am sure the family appricates all of your prayers for them and their child. They are having a rough time! A lot of people are giving the family of the child, a hard time. Those who know or don't know the details, are giving the family a hard time. Thanks. EDITOR'S NOTE: Slight edit

To Concerned/Mt Olive: If I am correct most crimes of this nature are committed by members of/or friends of the family. Lonnie should not be tried via this posting section. Some of you have expressed the fact that a male should not sit with a girl child, should a female be allowed to set with a boy child?

Posted by: Carmen Location: K-Town on Sep 11, 2008 at 11:59 AM
This seems really crazy to me. I hope they can post a story about if they asked the parents if this was set up. What kind of parents would let a 17 male babysit children in the first place? Seems to me there might be something more to this.

You just don't put your trust into people when it comes to your children.Especially the opposite sex.I see women change their little girl's diapers in public or on the floor right in front of men in the room~! This a NO-NO! Diaper changing should be "private",as to help in the process of warding of people just like guy!

Posted by: concern Location: Greenville on Sep 11, 2008 at 08:54 AM
What is going on in the world today. What is the heck wrong with these fools. Are there not enough women in the world that these people can get instead of messing with our babies? People like this, needs to be in countries that handle them personally.

growing up in less than optimal conditions and homelife is NO excuse whatsoever. I get so sick of people using that line of crap when they do something wrong!

This guy is mentally sick; yuck a 3 year old girl! I hope this child won't remember what happened, but probably will!

First let me say that I have a daughter and I fully believe that IF he is found guilty of these charges that he should be punished accordingly. It seems this day and time the media and its readers/viewers tends to be judge and jury without knowing all the facts. I don't know anything more about these charges than I have read here......but it happens that I do know Lonnie and his family and I can tell you that he has grown up under way less than optimal conditions and homelife. I haven't been around them for the last couple of years but I remember Lonnie as a polite, well mannered young man. I know people can and do change but knowing a little bit more about these people than you all do I will in this case allow Lonnie to be "innocent until proven guilty".

First of all...I don't think all 17 year olds are "bad guys". I have a 17 year old son that is capable of babysitting for others, has done so and keeps our 4 year old on a regular basis. However, there are clearly more issues here. He is a sick boy with a suitcase full of problems. He knew what he was doing, knew it was wrong and deserves to suffer for a stupid mistake. Bless this poor girl and family.

My brother is in prison for 85 yrs b/c some teenage girl gave him the come on over the internet. She told him she was 19, she was 14 but dressed 30. This guy has no excuse. 3 is not close to anything but baby. He should get the severest punishment. Tell your legislatures to vote in jessica's law.

I agree with you Jodie...If I can take my child, I just won't go. My heart is so sad for this child and her family and I hope this BOY is tried as an adult and given a rightful punishment

This person is sick and disgusting if these things happened. The child may be young but you are never too young to remember. This same thing happened to me as a child but not by a teenager but a grown man who should have known better. This is something that will affect this child the rest of her life. I pray that the family can get this child into serious counseling to help prevent this from affecting them any more than it already has. The world is sick of perverted people like this. My thing is...there are too many people out there of age who are willing to give themselves away..why do you have to hurt innocent children like that??!! Makes no sense to be but there is a special place in Hell for those who do these things. my prayers are going up for the child and family. God Bless You.

Posted by: Jodie on Sep 10, 2008 at 03:22 PM
I would NEVER leave my little girl with a 17 year old boy. I don't trust anyone anymore. It's sad. My daughter is almost three. I am very cautious about anyone watching her. I don't even like to leave her with teenage girls. I can count the times I've left her with a teenager on one hand and I didn't feel good about it any of those times. Every time they wanted to know how to get on the internet when they walked in the door. 3 different people with all the same question. Were they really watchng her? NO! If I can't take her with me, I just don't go.

don't know either party involved. We shouldnt convict anyone based on a charge, but If he is found guilty he should be locked up long long term. Our society is way to easy on child molesters and society glamorizes young girls in skimpy clothes( certainly that wasnt probably the case in this story). I was a teen boy who didnt want to have sex with kids so dont lump teen boys together like that this kid is sick if he did it but just like chocolate or whatever if he likes little girls now he might always so lock his tail up if convicted. Prayers for the family and the child. NOW please call your legislators and lobby for tougher laws for sexual offenses against children. I f you r suspicious someone is messing with a child, find out and handle your business they r scum If anyone out there is molesting kids and cant stop yourself let me know I'll help you or just jump off a bridge somewhere and have a little honor

The comments about leaving children at home with teenage boys is discrimating and profiling. Not all teenage boys have the urge to have sex with children ( I did'nt). The public always points the finger at the male, when alot of the times there is someone else involved. I work at a prison and I have read alot of crime versions of childmolsters and most times the mother has suspected something wrong but is too scared to leave the husband or boyfriend. They will continue to let this happen, and they will turn their backs to the facts. I am not saying that is true in this case, my problem is that women strive for equal rights but not equal punishment. I have seen cases where mother and father were both at fault and the father recieve life in prison and the mother get probation. Trust me I think that all parties should be shot dead but you need realize that people whom commit such crimes are mentaly screwed up. Some can be rehabilated, but most can't. My prayers are with the Child and famiy

wat is mommy and daddy thinkin letting a 17 year old BOY watch a 3 yr old lil girl. If stupid was a crime Mommy and Daddy would have to plead guilty

Posted by: susan Location: plymouth on Sep 10, 2008 at 01:40 PM
They should jack the jail house up and put him under it. Prison is too good for him. Why should the tax payers have to pay for his wrong doing? He is sick in the head. I feel so sorry for the little girl and her family. May God bless all of you.

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 10, 2008 at 01:36 PM
I agree with every post here. Sick. I hope this child is to young to remember this. Sick people can rob a child of their childhood in a second. This truely makes me sick. I hope he gets the worst !!!!

Posted by: Sue Location: Millford on Sep 10, 2008 at 12:37 PM
You all r right , IF guilty he should pay dearly and prayers for the child and family, but lets not convict him in the news. Since those commenting so far seem of a like mind heres one for you( it was reported last year but some missed it:Your tax dollars are paying an admited convicted child molester felon 175,000 yearly. He is a doc at Maury prison, former doc at Cherry hospital and had oral on a 9 year old girl. The state still hired him and pays him a bunch, but some others cant get hired if convicted of much lesser crimes. Please lobby legislators to pass a law like Tennessee did making ALL child molesters register for life, in NC if you molested before 1996 you are not on the registry and so people are not safe but think they r. This is a great injustice that this guy and other like him live in communities where noone knows they are child molesters, even though they may have molested 20 kids, if it happened b4 1996 they get away with it

What is wrong with our society? I agree that castration should be a punishment for crimes of such against children- This child will no longer be the innocent, carefree little girl she was yesterday before this animal decided to have his way with her- Nor will her mother-I pray that she has a strong support system and that he is punished for this crime- I also agree that he will get some scum bag attorney who will have the charges lessened and he will go on with his sick life. I'm sorry but people that mess with children are a waste of oxygen~

What in the world? Come on...what is wrong with our young men today, are you guys that desperate. He was ugly, but there is clearly no reason for this to have happened to this youngster. He needs to be put away where not even the crows can land their droppings on him. I don't understand why? I hope he reeps what he sowed because God will definitely make sure this happens. OMG....I will keep the family in my prayers God Bless.

Absolutely disgusting. I still do not understand what goes on in the minds of adults that are sexually attracted to children. My prayers go out to this little girl and her family. Chemical castration should be the automatic sentence for crimes such as this.
