A 40-year-old pastor has been sentenced to 100 years in prison after a jury convicted him of sex crimes involving two teen boys who say he abused them over a two-year period.

During Friday's sentencing, Judge Stuart Albright admonished Rodney Keith Boothe for using his church to gain the trust of the boys. Albright said in one case, Boothe was in the role of parent of the boy who had no one else.

The Winston-Salem Journal reported that Boothe and both teenagers were members of Greater Church of Deliverance when the assaults occurred from 2005 to 2007.

The younger boy said he was 13 and 14 when the sex acts happened. The older boy testified last week that sex acts against him began when he was 15 and stopped when he was 17.

This preacher deserved to be punished, but how about all those Catholic priests who committed the same abuses and have escaped punishment by a big financial payoff?
