I am shocked at Beaufort County only opening one shelter almost down in Belhaven. The people in Washington that might need shelter probably cannot get transportation that far. Is Beaufort County offering any public transport to the shelter? As far as pets in shelters, the only shot required by state law is RABIES, so I do not understand about being up to date on shotS.

why is it only williamston gets a shelter? in years past they opened a shelter in every town so getting to one would not be a problem. it seems now all they care about is opening one in williamston only.and williamston being the middle of the county does not help with someone who has limited means of getting around.

I understand wanting the pets in the shelters to have papers/proof of vaccinations, but what about the people with pets that can't afford/are behind on their pets shots? They are the ones that will most likely need to go to the shelter. I just hope that everyone that has pets has a way to keep them safe as well as themselves.
