A sharper focus on academics has changed the school day for kids today. Adults may remember having P.E. class and recess every day.
In North Carolina schools, recess is not required and they may only go to P.E. class a few days a week. But with childhood obesity skyrocketing, Pitt County schools are taking aim at the problem. A program called "Active Recess" gets kids up and active during the days they don't have P.E. class.
Health officials say the problem of overweight kids is getting so bad, this generation could be outlived by its parents because of health problems.
