Multiple arrests have been made in a murder that has gone unsolved for the past five months.

Martin County deputies say six men are charged in connection with the death of Tyrone Lee Perry.

Perry's body was found on March 20th at a local logging company on Highway 125 in Hamilton.

Facing murder and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon charges are Donsennie Person, 20 of Hassell, his brother Dayvon Person, 17 of Hassell, Donald Smallwood, 22 of Williamston, O'Darrin Jenkins, 19 of Hamilton and Anterrio Council, 24 of Robersonville.

Deputies have also charged Dravon Best, 28 of Williamston with conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The five charged with murder are being held without bond, while Best's bond was set at $100,000.

Deputies say Perry was robbed and then shot while working at Hardison's Logging.

At first deputies weren't sure how Perry died, but an autopsy showed the man died from a gunshot wound to the head.

In May the governor's office announced a $5,000 reward for information on the arrest and conviction of Perry's killer.

I did not say tyrone's family owes anyone an apology. I said people on this forum and the previous news story forum who convicted, tried and slanderd someone based on no eveidence owed an apology to the Hardisons.Of course, they did not convict anyone. The people making the slander statements, didn't have enough sense to work in anything such as law enforcement. They slandered an innocent man. Again, I never said the perry family. They seem like reasonable people and good people. Who suffered the lose of a family member. And apparently you are not related to them. I know the people arrested were arrested for murder and robbery. Why do I care? Because it is public record and I have a right to care. You certainly sound bitter and sorry if my questions touched a nerve there. Sometimes the truth hurts. It was typical of our crime problem. Black on Black crime. Check the stats , a fact.

I dont think that Tyrone's family owes anyone an apology. Why would they? They didnt convict anybody. They knew about as much as everyone else claimed to know. The fact is, someone knew alot more than they were willing to say, and still do. As far as the MCSD goes, they did a very good job, but they were just doing their jobs. Also, why do you care who they were trying to rob-it wasnt you. And believe me, Tyrone did not lose his life trying to protect the Hardisons or anyone else, he was not a hero, he was just a regular person and yes, a very good man wholoved life and his family. And if Hardison wasnt there and had nothing to do with it, you should be proud of YOUR Hardison.

Posted by: a woman Location: Martin county on Sep 15, 2008 at 09:57 PM
I do think an apology should be offered from people on this forum to the Hardison family. He was accused and tried and convicted on this forum. Thank God, we have a Bill of rights in this country. Thank God, we have a good Sheriff , who did not jump to conclusions. The crime was investigated, and arrest have beeen made. One question, These guys were arrested for robbery and Murder. Who were they trying to rob? Possibly the Hardison family. Possibly Tyrone is a hero for saving the Hardison family? Possibly, Tyrone was a good enough man, who protected a woman home alone. I understand they were high school Buddies. Couldn't we all use a friend like that. Perry family, be proud of your Tyrone. Good Man.

Ms., It's obvious that you are not the Educator that these people need because you can't even spell Two(2) correctly.

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 12, 2008 at 04:15 PM
You need to go back to school also. I think that you need an educator yourself to post something like that online. People are expressing their feelings and alot of them are writting like they text. You must don't have too much education if you respond with a comment like that.

the first to comments had to have been written by someone with no EDUCATION.You people need to go back to school or do you need an EDUCATOR.

for everyone that posted something nice about OD thanks. He's family feels that same as you do. People can judge someone that they don't even no but if you don't no OD then you shouldn't judge him. I feel sorry for Tyrone's family and I hope they feel closure with this murder case solve. Not only r they hurt but the victims familys are too. I don't like what happen to Tyrone because if I felt like OD was involved I would have made him tell the truth. Nobody deserve to die like that. I don't feel like OD was involve in it. but u can raise ur child the best u no how but hanging with the wrong crowd will get you in trouble. OD had no reason to rob someone for money because he had a job and he was still getting anything he wanted.

jus cuz they charged with murder doesnt mean they gonna be convicted of it!! there is hope, at least for the 'innocent' being accused anyway!!

There is just too much nonsense posted here. You people need to stop sticking your noses in things it has no place being. You are concerned about the wrong thing. You should be concerned about your souls. Jesus is soon to come and He is a just God and justice will be served to those whom deserve it. I pray that innocent men, if any, will not be punished over something they didn't do. Let us all give this entire situation to God cause He knows best!! He will give everyone peace. Lets get our focus on God and stop trying to judge one another!!

To Kat Congratulations on you "Mastery" of the English Language. Most of the people posting on this blog have "Mastered" something, im sure. I have a professional position that allows me to make decent salary, but can you do my job; probably not. But dont feel bad, because I can't do yours either. My point is, in all of your years of study, Im sure you learned that its wrong to insult the intelligence of others. Believe it or not, everyone is not given the same options in life, but educated or not, everyone has an opinion.

I totally agree with Martin county Lady. I love when this stuff happens and how people react. Its always the same. Just cuz somebody is your family or close friend or high school buddy or whatever doesn't make them incapable of committing crimes. I'm sure that when they hear of such an incident involving people that they don't know and see the family and friends screaming "Innocent", they too probably feel the same way as far as what difference does it makes that they know and/or grew up with the suspect. Maybe one of them or all of them are innocent. Maybe not. Either way, I just hope that justice is served for all that are involved.

He was about to get drafted? I don't think so, the draft is no longer in effect and has not been in effect since the 70's. Maybe he was registering for the draft which is the law. If he told you that he was the first one getting drafted since the Vietnam war, he is full of it.

As someone who earns a good living because of my mastery of the English language, I am appalled at the posts here that are riddled with errors and make no sense. Please people who are guilty of this, get further education and don't give folks a reason to make fun of you. It's the least you can do for yourselves.

....(Con'T)ask yourself what happens when night time falls.you wouldn't believe how many faces people have these days no matter what the age, race whatever. Now for those of you up here saying that you know so and so's heart well let me tell you that i went to school with three of them and i don't know their heart besides people change everyday so before you pick sides get your facts and find out who you really grew up with.also, this is not a debate board so stop coming at people for their opions calling out people by they're names and ****.big ups to "MARTIN COUNTY LADY" and some others up here i definetly fell what you saying in your blog.

Posted by: ????? Location: where i want to be on Aug 31, 2008 at 04:12 PM
first off i just want to say that as humans it's not our place to judge anybody or choose their fate cause some of you up here know that if the page was turned you wouldn't be feeling whatever you call yourself feeling or sayin half the things some of you are saying.I'm not sticking up for anybody and my heart goes out to Mr.Perry and his Family.I'm real sorry this happen i actually knew his daughter and babysat her daughter and i could only imagine what they are going through i know what it feels like to loose someone close to you.but at the same token there is always three sides to a story and you should never put anything past anybody further than you can see them.Mr.perry could've been a real down to earth nice guy on the outside.I don't know what went down if he did or didn't do anything.now ask yourself during the day you only see what you allow yourself so if you feel he would never be a threat to soceity then that's all you'll ever see as...Now ask yourself what happens when....

First of all I would like to say that comments on stories should not becoming what they are...people are using the comment board to argue with other commenters...we need to focus on something way more imporant...a man is dead, a family will hopefully be getting some resolutions and answers to way it happened and the murders are off the streets! I want to commend ALL local law enforcement for their efforts. I'm tired of people saying "Free so and so" "I know his heart" blah, blah, blah!! People can wear many faces...remember that the next time you come to someone's defense so quickly!

Posted by: to Anonymous on Aug 31, 2008 at 07:52 AM
"He was just about to get drafted to the military now this gets in the way. But OD just keep your head up in there cause I believe that you would get through this." You are correct, murdering someone does get in the way of other plans sometimes. Oh, and I really don't think he is reading these comments of support you idiots keep posting.

Is this a news blog or are you condoning a personal assault? Look back at the mention of Hardison logging. And the mention of the the Hardison name. WITN,do you not bear responsibility on allowing these personal attacks? he answer to this is yes. You filter blog comments. And you allowed comments , without any charges, to be posted.

But OD just keep your head up in there cause I believe that you would get through this. Whats up Cuz. Keep your head up. There was no way for you to know how grimey these guys are. You have to be grimey to do something like this to someone and still look them in the face and act like you their friend. Always remember, people are a product of their own environment, in other words, if youre taught nothing, you know nothing. You (Terrance) came from better. Therefore, you can phantom this level of deceit.

Terrence my heart still goes out to your entire family. This was tragic, and NO family should have to endure this. I cannot imagine what kind of life I would have had to have lost my father like this. But God can help you and your family. My younger brother died when I was 17 it was devastating. I lost a cousin in 1988 because of a robbery, one of them my uncle know. Just know that in time it will get better. You have to dig deep and pray and the strength will come. Put all that hurt and anger to good use and help educate young people about what your family has endured. Turn this into something positive, Do not let this ruin your chance at being a good man which is what your father would have wanted. Do not let hate destroy you. I will continue to pray for you and your entire family

I am Tyrone's son you people really don't understand and realize what hurts the most is for the simple fact I know 4 out of the six boys very well. I hung out with two of them on the regular. I can't understand how they could allow theirselves to do such a thing. I don't hate them but whatever happens to them when they go to court they deserve any time that the judge gives them. I feel like they played my face to the fullest over a couple of dollars. But what hurt me the most out of everything was that they done it and they acted like they were my best friends...RIP DAD I LOVE YOU

It amazes me that people would defend those arrested. I'm a teacher and I have seen kids who I thought had a "good heart" do horrible things. It's a hard pill to swallow, but kids give in to the pressures around them. Even if OD was at the wrong place at the wrong time, he had ample opportunity to speak up and anonomously turn in the others who were there. He is guilty by association. We need to teach our kids to walk away from trouble and not walk towards it.

I am tried of whom ever kept saying the Hardison need and apology. They did not lose a love one. Remember we the family did. We will never hear Tyrone laughter again see his smile, or evem eat his famous hamburger on the grill. We are the ones at a lost. The six men that are accured of killing Tyrone if they did it family face up the the fact. When our kids are not with us we can not say what they will and will not do. If they were there when Tyrone got killed they all are guilty and should face what lyes ahead of them, if its death are the rest of there life in prison.

And this to all who convicted and tormented an innocent man. To all of you who did this. You should Thank God, you live in a country such as ours. To friend of the Hardison's: First of all I never mentioned anything about any private information and next, you should get your information correct. I don't think that the Fire or EMS responders would put out erroneous information considering the fact that the initial cause of death was retracted the very next day. So now I ask you "WHAT IS IT THAT YOU KNOW" OR IS TRYING TO HIDE.

To Shena, Oak City: Who exactly (other than you) has said "Black ppl gon wild?" Also, how do you know that "OD" is not guilty? The only way that you could POSSIBLY know that he is innocent is if you 1) have psychic abilities and can see that in his future trial he is PROVEN innocent or 2) you know something about this crime that the rest of the world does not. So, since you probably aren't psychic, then you must have inside information on the crime and maybe YOU need to be turned into the police. Maybe instead of making this into a "black thing" you should get on your knees and pray to God that justice be served in the interest of the victim, after all, these guys were accused for a good reason, the MCSO did not pull their names out of thin air.

Posted by: MC citizen Location: Williamston on Aug 29, 2008 at 08:09 PM
First of all, would all of you saying that you know that one of the accused did not commit this crime because you KNOW they wouldn't,PLEASE STOP. If you weren't there, you don't know what they did or did not do. Second of all, why is it always a BLACK thing? I am sure that all those involved in the investigation were nothing but professional and never ONCE did race play a part in who was charged or not charged with this vicious crime. God bless the victim's family and God bless the Martin County Sheriff's Office, we're proud of you!

Im so happy this burden has been lifted off of you guys and now you can get back to living normal lives. I have been looking but none of the people who accused you of this murder have apologized yet. Imagine that. And im not sure what tyrone's family is remembering but some of them were ready to throw stones when the story first surface but they feel they owe no one an apology also, go figure! Im so happy that these criminals are off the street, way to go Dan, all the investigators, and the entire MCSD. Job well done! Also, someone was asking how a person knew so much private information about the original crime scene in an earlier post...Have you ever thought about the first responders that arrived before anyone. Martin County does have some awesome FIRE and EMS responders! I think that was you CONCERNED CITIZEN from VIRGINIA!!! And i don't know who big ced is, but what the heck was that because that wasn't typing thats for sure but its great you can use a computer!

To Fed up in Williamston: I don't think that the family is looking for an easy answer or six black males to be framed. Don't you think that you are taking the easy way out to suggest such a thing. Instead of trying to blame society why don't you start in the home. That's why it's called "HOMETRAINING". A black man is dead, so why would we want to blame or frame innocent blacks. It's a crying shame that everytime a black man is accused of anything the first thing that we say is we're being framed by the white man. Take responsibilities for you and your children's actions. You are giving them to much credit and us not enough.

I can't tell you what went on that day i can only assume like some of you are doing.I know that you don't care about what I think but whether you realized it or not this is a post your comments section. So I'm going to post my comment.I really think that O'Darrin was in the wrong place at the wrong time and I just hope justice is severed on his part.Just as you feel Tyrone was a good man,I feel the same about O'darrin this child may have been there but I TRULY DON'T THINK THIS IS THE MAN YOU ARE LOOKING FOR!!!!

To all of you that's on the Frankie is innocent bandwagon, don't be so quick to point fingers. People have been charged in this case, not convicted. One point still remain the same, the deceased was found dead on his property and there are still a lot of unanswered questions. So, personally I could care less about Frankie, or his feelings. This is not about him, this is about Tyrone Perry and his Family finally getting the Justice that they deserve.

"PLEASE FREE O'DARRIN" I know that he will never pull anything like this(murder). He was just about to get drafted to the military n now this gets in the way. But OD just keep your head up in there cause I believe that you would get through this. I and every1 else will always love you n we got ur back 100%

I think all those that pointed a finger at Frankie should be ashamed. I wish there was a way for you to really feel what Frankie and his family went through because of everyone who had him labeled GUILTY. This just goes to show that you should keep your mouth shut and let the law enforcement take care of it. Everyone should really be ASHAMED.

From day 1 the family of Tyrone Perry has said that JUSTICE WILL PREVAIL. The same stands true for the accused, if they are innocent, they will be freed, but if they are guilty, I hope they suffer beyond measure. This was an innocent man that died at the hands of others, for no apparent reason. He didnt mess with them, he didnt mess with their family, money or property, he owed them NOTHING and yet, they chose to take his life. I hope they get the same punishment that he GOT!!!

Posted by: Me Location: VA on Aug 29, 2008 at 01:01 PM
To just me: You can say only one person pulled the trigger, so only one should be punished because it wasnt one of your family members. Trust me, everyone involved will be punished!!!

KUDOS to the Martin County Sheriff's Office! And everyone just remember, they are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Eventhough the other very popular saying is, guilt by association! Whether guilty or not, evidently the ones arrested knew something, or else they wouldn't have been arrested. They chose to let an innocent man die. What does this say about the kind of people they are? I know there are a lot of Martin County residents breathing a sigh of relief. And I know the family of the victim are relieved to have just a tiny bit of closure to this horrible situation that these cold hearted people put them through.

To Superb in Hamilton: Maybe the police should be questioning you. You seem to have answers to questions that only the killer or killers would know. You by your own admission was at the scene. Are you withholding evidence. Can you say for certain that the guys arrested was not the MURDERERS,and if so, How do you know. Just who are you and what role do you play?

Posted by: Bear Grass Location: Williamston on Aug 29, 2008 at 11:53 AM
I happen to know some of the people who were arrested & think that they could have the mentality to do what the police say they did, even if they did not pull the trigger. Those that didn't pull the trigger are just as guilty as the one who did. Also, some of you who enter comments on a blog need to learn how to type & spell. This is not a text message sight but a blog. Type what you mean. I hope those who are guilty get the maximum penalty allowed under the law.

First, to the citizens of MC and others, who showed their support during this VERY trying time, the family of Mr Perry is forever grateful. To the parents of the accused persons, I personally feel sorry for you. But most of all, to "SUPERB", I read your response about how you dont think they did it. The truth is, no one cares what you think. If you were on the scene, as you stated, the way i see is, if you were with them then, you should be with them right now. Youre showing so much support for the accused, if you are so sure they are being framed, why would you let them go down, after all, you said you were there, so you know what happened. Why would you even let it go this far. Now I see why you referred to them as "fine" young men, It's all you know.

There's 6 more 'winners' off the streets. Only about 30k more left.

To Everyone that this may concern: This is not about Frankie or his family, so why does you feel that he's owed an apology. Now, for the people that think that the six charged in this case is an injustice to them , let me tell you what I think. The five that didn't pulled the trigger deserves more time than the one that did. You ask why or how: Because they have more BLOOD on their hands than the one that actually pulled the trigger. They kept quiet about the murder while the family pleaded and begged anyone with ANY, ANY Information to please come forward and give us some closure. You made your choice to do the wrong thing and now you have to face the consequences. I HOPE AND PRAY THAT YOU GET THE DEATH PENALTY...

Please by all means O'Darrin Jenkins is innocent. Darrin will not kill a man. He mite know something about it but I know OD will not kill anyone. He had his whole life in front of him. He just graduated high school and had his whole life in front of him. Why the heck will he feel that need to kill a man. Wrong place at the wrong time. I pray that justice will be served on OD part. Free him he donot have that thug mentality to kill anyone. And T-Low you know you my boy and I am going to stand behind you no matta what. I hate to see that these 2 are going thru this. Dag on Terrio 8 yrs man. Come on and facing a murder charge at that. Are they allowed to have character witnesses? I know OD did not kill nobody. He is just caught up in the midst. I pray for your justice OD and I know Bonute is upset but I pray for you and your family you will be home OD and not convicted of anything cause we kno you did not do this. WE are behind you 100 and 10 %. We love you O'Darrin and stay safe.

Kudos to all NC Law Enforcement involved with investigating and making arrests. I do not know any of these people, nor would I want to. Six criminals off the streets of Martin County, keep going, there are 100's more.

Once that happens lets see how many of u brave ppl give the 5 innocent ones an apology. n for the person that said the guy they found the gun on was released on bond, u have no clue what ur talkin about!!! he had nothin to do with it!!! as well as another that i KNOW!!! God knows the truth and HE is a just God!! Just keep EVERYONE involved in the case in ur prayers!!!! this means the one who lost his life, his family, the killer and his family, the innocent victims and their families!!! one is guilty but they all shudnt pay for his dumb mistake. n if u knew the killer was involved n a gang wud u risk ur life as well as ur kids lives to tell "what u heard?" NO u wudnt n I wudnt either. It's real. PPl do die for telling "what they heard." where i come from, "u anit seen nuthin, n u anit heard nuthin." im sorry for the victims family but there's no need for inncoent ppl to pay for sumthin they didnt do!!

Slight edit

Tyrone was a good person and didnt deserve to die in the manner he did. I thank God we finally got an answer to our prayers. Do I think the family owes frankie an apology? nope!!! No one has even talked to him from the family. So maybe the people from the outside looking in does but not the family. If anything the family is owed an apology from the people who took Tyrone life. How can a man like Tyrone die from such a horrible death? And to clear things up why is it always a black and white thing when something like this happen? WAKE UP PEOPLE!!! I dont care if the person or people were black, white, yellow, or blue. Murder is wrong! And for the person to say blacks committ more crimes your wrong! Whites committ crime to! So instead of making it a black white thing just be happy that they caught the people who took such a precious life! Family stay encourage because you all have a long road ahead!!!

Marie, the people that falsely accused Mr Hardison owe him an apology. He was tried and convicted by bloggers right here on this website when this happened. That is who I meant owes an apology.

Posted by: WakeUp! Location: Williamston on Aug 29, 2008 at 06:33 AM
If you did not pull the trigger you can still be guilty. If you are in for a penny you are in for a pound. Why did not the others call for help or to report it. Its MURDER!

I'm satisfied to know the killer is off the street, now we have to let justice be served. It's ashame my uncle's life had to end @ such a young age for no reason. I'm glad that we finally have closure to this tragedy, but we have to stop killing each other. The death penalty can't bring Tyrone back, but the punishment for these teens should be stiff enough so they may learn something from this, especially the young men in the early twentys, they should be leading the younger ones down a better path then this.I feel no remorse for them, but God wil have the final say. No man have the right to take another mans life. God bless the family of the victim and the ones that took this young mans life.

Posted by: Concerned Person Location: Robersonville on Aug 28, 2008 at 11:46 PM
Ok now how are 6 people well 5 people going to all kill one person if u get the same story out of the majority of them u would know who really killed him, dont take the life of innocent people who had nothing to do with it.....

Posted by: marie Location: williamston on Aug 28, 2008 at 11:39 PM
I'm a family member of Tyrone and i just want to say I thank God for some closure, now I just ask that whom ever took his life pay for taking a father, son, brother, uncle, cousia away from us.Some say we the family, own the Hardison an apology. Why? The family have not talked to none of them since this happen.

Posted by: love one Location: williamston on Aug 28, 2008 at 11:32 PM
My brother wasn't a violent man, he wouldn't harm anyone, and didn't deserve to die the way he did. God knows who did it.

To NB The MCSD has to have some type of proof or else they could not arrest these BLACK males.

Posted by: Fed up Location: Williamston on Aug 28, 2008 at 10:23 PM
I know everyone wants an easy answer and what better way than to get six more of our so call undesirables off the street than to frame them and puff they're gone.where was he found? who found him?who threatened his life before? those were questions that were answered in the very beginning. wake up citzens of martin county. If you have pull you can GET AWAY WITH ANYTHING.Don't you know that.

Posted by: To NB Location: MC on Aug 28, 2008 at 09:50 PM
Get a life man. You only defend them because the police arrested black men.Black men are responsible for the majority of crimes. And learn how to spell and form sentences too.

Posted by: JJustice Location: Williamston on Aug 28, 2008 at 09:12 PM
Way to go MCSD and SBI! All the hard work paid off. The victim needed a voice. You gave it to him.

Posted by: MC Citizen Location: MC on Aug 28, 2008 at 09:00 PM
Great job MC law enforcement. So proud of you guys. Law enforcement just doesn't randomly pick 6 guys off the street and charge them with murder. There is SOMETHING that connects them. It amazes me that people defend such criminals and tell them to "keep their heads up". If proven guilty, their penalty needs to be swift and harsh.

Posted by: NB Location: Robersonville on Aug 28, 2008 at 07:55 PM
I really dont believe that they had nothing to do with that murder. If you read the information you will know that something dont add up. And how can you say they did it, it been 5 months ago. I feel the police are just going by hear say. And what gets me the man they find the gun on have a bond, yet the other five do not. If they dont have figure prints on the gun of the other 5 males, they really cant say that they did it. I feel it fill of bull. They just have a chance to arrest 6 BLACK male and they did it. So ya'll keep your head up because ya'll getting out because they have NO PROOF THAT YA'LL DID IT.

Posted by: to superb Location: hamilton on Aug 28, 2008 at 07:52 PM
The man had a small caliber wound to the head along with being severly beaten so it was rather hard to tell on the scene. Were you there? Well I was. And I am sure these "fine" young men were framed. You have a special skill if you know people's hearts, but you obviously don't know how to use it.

Posted by: Much Love Location: Lewiston NC on Aug 28, 2008 at 07:40 PM
u will Never be able to know another perons heart

Posted by: Superb Location: Robersonville on Aug 28, 2008 at 06:44 PM
I honestly dont believe they did it. I know most of the guys up here, meaning that i know their heart, and it just doesnt add up. How did they NOT know how the man died, but yet he had a bulletwound to the head? It doesnt sound right, i dont think they did it.
