Upholding the Christian faith, peace for our world, the moral fabric of our lives; these are just some of the many things people prayed for Thursday on the National Day of Prayer.
People of all religions were encouraged to participate. Several folks from Pitt County gathered at the Greenville courthouse at noon to pray, sing and celebrate their belief that prayer can make changes in the outcome of any situation.
In Beaufort County, nearly two dozen people gathered to pray. Local leaders, religious leaders and other representatives assembled on the steps of city hall in Washington praying for the troops overseas, peace and children. Members of various religious backgrounds all took part.
