The body of a seven-year-old Richlands girl who was poisoned five years ago is being removed from Onslow County.

Kayla Allen died on August 24, 2003 and nearly a year passed before her foster mother, Carolyn Futrell, was charged in her death. Futrell's trial ended in April with her conviction of involuntary manslaughter.

Now that the trial is over, the girl's family is having her body exhumed from an Onslow County cemetery and reburied in her home state of Michigan.

Kayla was buried in a Futrell family cemetery, across the road from Carolyn Futrell's one-time home.

Why is it that children who are NOT abused are taking from their parents by DSS and the ones that truly are abused are left to suffer in the hands of their evil caretaker? This website explains it all http://www.bluelineradio.com/KAYLA.html I think the DSS should be held accountable when something like this happens. She should have been returned to her blood family that loved, and wanted her when the abuse started. She is resting peaceful in her Grandmother's arms now.

I'll tell you why she was left there...they wouldn't give her to us, the bio family and we do care and always have. They said she was "bonded" and that was going to be near impossible to fight. We knew something was wrong, she wasn't being treated right and many many things but could not get her away. Nobody should have to live this, personally I've lost a lot over these past 5 years but am thankful to Michigan Memorial Park Cemetary for donating the plot and her burial place. RIP little Kayla Allen! We miss you every day!
