Down East Man Charged With Kidnapping, Assaulting Girlfriend

A Carteret County man is accused of kidnapping and trying to strangle his girlfriend.
Nicholas Joyner of Atlantic was charged Saturday with assault by strangulation, kidnapping, assault on a female, and interfering with emergency communication. That charge is because Joyner allegedly broke all the phones as the victim was trying to call 911.
The 29-year-old victim was treated at Carteret General Hospital. Joyner is in the Carteret County jail on a $50,000 bond.
