THIS IS AN ARCHIVED STORY:

A Havelock man is in jail with no bond after police say he murdered a woman last night.

Desmond Johnson made his first court appearance this morning in Craven County on the murder charge.

The 22-year-old Johnson is accused of killing April Torres last night. Police say they went to 1402 Scotch Pine Court on a possible breaking and entering in progress call. That's when they found Torres lying in the garage, with apparent trauma to her head.

Torres was airlifted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital where she died early this morning.

Police say preliminary information shows Torres and Johnson had a domestic-related confrontation before she was killed.

miss april at first while with johnson was looking for a free ride as johnson was to enter service,as the mature one of the two she could have steered johnson away from bad choices he and she made.to areyouserious, april had a many of demons her self.johnson also has many who love him as well.the truth is many people see one side,it is not.it was wrong for what he did and also it was wrong for what she was doing while she was here like not tending to her two children but instead running the streets different men in her life and hanging out with the crowd.as her friend you will only speak in the light of april and darkness of johnson.before he started being people like her he was by all account a better person himself.

first off 22 is not a child and he had a history of violence. How can you make it sound like he is not responsible for his actions and that it was her fault. And to talk about their relationship. I saw her the day she finally ended that relationship. She had wanted to for a while and when it was finally over I hadn't seen her so happy in a while.....Im not going to sit her and say April was perfect. who is. April however was extremely full of life and was truely loved by so many friends and family. he nor anyone else had the right put end to her life whatever her imperfections and he should take the full consequences for what he did

to the district attorny over this case, hope that you will look at both sides of this case and not on the side of hate and other emotional ties of this case.it was not good relationship from the start.he was a teen and she a adult.his mother should have stepped in and told april she needs to find someone around her own age.instead miss johnson let april and her 2 kid move in her home were the relationship has ended at this time young man with no directin lock -up&2 kids without a mom.desmond mother should have been more of a mom than friend. every story has a beginning & a end.when the author writes a few bad pages and is too stubborn to make corrections then no matter how good the book was perceived it will turn out wronge.d.a. check the complete story and then & only than will see the real truth .
