Workers seeking access to N.C. State Ports facilities in Morehead City and Wilmington have until November 1 to get an identification card issued by the Transportation Security Administration.

All ports employees, longshoremen, truck and delivery drivers and shipping agents must present a Transportation Worker Identification Credential to gain access to secure areas of the port.

The identification card program was created in 2002 by Congress to improve security at ports nationwide. More than 415,000 workers have enrolled in the program since August 6.
