If you are traveling this summer or any time, there are three 'R's you should remember to keep your identity and bank accounts safe.
Creditcards.com lists the three 'R's as remove, record, and recover.
Remove any bankcards or credit cards you do not plan to use from your wallet. Also, do not carry your social security card or birth certificate with you on your trip.
Record means making copies of the front and back of each card you are taking for your bankcard or credit card issuers.
Recover is contacting local police if your cards are stolen or compromised, so you have a paper trail to protect you against fraudulent charges. Keep that police report at hand because your bank and credit card companies may want copies.
Also, notify your bank or credit card company beforehand to let them know you are traveling, so they will not flag your purchases.
