It's the first time senior officers in the Afghan Army observed first-hand how U.S. marines are trained. This group of Afghan soldiers is one of several units that has worked with Marines Corps training teams in Afghanistan for the past several years. Now, they're taking a look at how training is done in the states.
Major Rick Seagrist, a member of one of the embedded training teams, says working with the Afghan soldiers has been challenging at times, but also quite rewarding. He says the group has made significant progress over the past few years. The group will continue their trip with a visit to the Marine base in Parris Island, South Carolina.
