The North Carolina Wildlife Commission is currently studying whether the ban on Sunday hunting should be lifted. According to the commission, requests have been made for years to lift the ban. Wildlife officer Conley Mangum of Pitt County says the state legislature would ultimately have to decide whether to lift the ban. Conley says wildlife officers have to work during the weekend, so adding the extra hunting day won't really increase their current work load. Mangum says public hearings were held across the state at the beginning of the year. Mangum says currently there is no time line for the legislature to make a decision on lifting the ban.
