If you're interested in voting early, now is the time. One stop absentee voting started Thursday. Plus election offices are now using their new voting equipment as mandated by the state. The Beaufort County Board of Elections is using their new voting tabulator, and officials say it's working just fine.
The state requires the new equipment produce a paper trail of the votes tabulated to avoid loosing votes electronically. Beaufort County Deputy Director Anita Branch says she's pleased with Wednesday's voter turn out.
One-stop voting will continue until April 29. The May primary is May 2.
