A 20-year-old Marine is heading back to Camp Lejeune from his home state of Massachusetts to face charges of desertion. Milford police released Private First Class Kristopher Vento into the custody of the Marines yesterday. He was arrested Monday about 30 miles from his hometown of Marlborough Massachusetts, outside Boston. Vento joined the Marines in May 2005 and was a student in infantry school. A Marine Corps spokesman says he deserted in January. Military authorities will decide Vento's punishment.
