Back to school shopping has a whole new look this year for Pitt County Students.

This year the school system will implement a new school uniform policy. School officials say the new policy will help provide a structured and focused learning institution for Pitt County Students. They also say the policy will help parents save money on buying expensive school clothes. Today, we spoke with Pitt County Mother Victoria Slowinski, who says she's in favor of the school dress code.

School uniform retailers say they are bracing themselves for crowds of shoppers during the sales tax holiday, which begins this Friday.

We have been wearing uniforms in this county for several years.I am sympathetic to all Pitt parents because this is a big change.I went through it and was not happy at first. But the kids look great. Most Martin County parents are ok with the uniforms now. And to Courtney....who said.... what happens if the cild does not comply.Well, in Martin County the kid goes home. Give this a chance. You will end up liking it. And it saves money in the long run. Just someone please get these stores to start stocking these items. My child is a 0. If it was not for American Eagle.com....and other internet sights we would be in a bind. Somebody in retail needs to get a grip. Uniforms are a sure fire sell. Why not stock the items? Who in the world is running these stores? Trying to find uniform pants and shirts. Does any retail store anyone anymore with merchandising skills? Apparently not.

I am a student at Farville Central High School and is currently going to the 12th grade. The whole uniform thing is no big deal to me because back in New York some public schools enforced the students to wear uniforms. To me, the uniform code wont last long. If there are too many kids not wearing them, then the teachers and principles wont be able to suspend that many kids. Also, having uniforms are not going to change the way students wear them. Some schools still have gang related colors and many "adolecent" teens are going to wear their pasts either too big or too small. Plus, they are only wearing uniforms in school. What happens when they step though the school doors and go home?? To me, wearing uniforms would'nt stop anything other teenagers as myself already know.

just wait and see the first day of school when your little one puts that uniform on and has his or her pants pulled up and shirts tucked in and a belt, they will look so cute. i know some of you dont like the dress code and for different reasons.my child is not old enough to buy his/her own clothes so therefore they had to wear what i brought. i dont wear pants 2 sizes too big or to small i dont go around revealing what the good lord has blessed me with either so why would i want my children to go around like that i am a respected person so i want them to be respected .for all of you who complains that someone is telling your children what to wear, look at it this way if you work, go to school or whatever someone is telling you what to do your boss tells you your hrs, the teacher tells you what to do. i have seen little girls with the same color belt, shirt and bows in their hair and they look so cute.let our children be children while they can they will be adults before you know it
