A local organization that serves Veterans will celebrate its recent opening of a new office with a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday

The Havelock Chamber of Commerce is hosting the ribbon cutting for the new Service Office at Havelock Ch. 26 of the Disabled American Veterans.

At the office, Veterans can receive assistance with claims and information by appointment or on a walk-in basis.

The Havelock Chapter DAV new Service Office, manned by an all-volunteer staff of Chapter Service Officers and office staff, was opened on May 12.

The office space, along with its computer equipment and furniture, was donated by individuals and businesses.

Five Chapter Service Officers will be at hand assisting throughout the office.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will be 5 p.m. Thursday at the office located at Westbrooke Shopping Center in Havelock.

The ceremony is open to the public.
