Girl Scouts Deliver Cookies To Military In Jacksonville

Service members in the east with a sweet tooth are in for a treat as local Girl Scouts head their way Thursday.

Girl Scouts will deliver cookies to the United Service Organization of NC at Jacksonville Thursday.

The cookie delivery is part of the Girl Scouts NC Coastal Pines' annual Operation Cookie Drop program where customers make donations for boxes of cookies to be delivered to deployed military groups.

More than 70 scouts, troop leaders, and parents will deliver the cookies.

Girl Scouts across central and eastern NC collected enough donations for the program to purchase 82,164 cookie boxes, which will be sent to deployed military personnel in Havelock, Fayetteville, and Goldsboro.

A portion of the boxes will also be sent to Marines and soldiers deployed overseas.

Over 3,000 boxes of cookies will be delivered Thursday to the USO in Jacksonville.
