Whether it's cloudy, has a funny smell, or maybe an awkward taste, the quality of water coming out of your tap must meet certain levels mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency.
In Beaufort County water officials at a processing plant, like hundreds across the state, are testing, filtering, and funneling the cleanest water possible your home. But some areas in the east are under the close eye of officials like in Dare County, where low levels of arsenic has been detected in the water. Recent high levels of lead in portions of the drinking water are still under investigation in Greenville.
In addition to all of that, water officials say they're dealing with areas where the water is being depleted, including southern Pitt County into Wayne County, Lenoir, Duplin some of Onslow County. Information from the public water supply does not include individual well water.
If you are concerned about the quality of what's in your well, you can call your local health department.
