The growing season in Washington County produced the largest crop of rice ever in North Carolina, and because of that, the company responsible for it plans to expand.

Ventria Bio-science announced an expansion of their Washington County Bio-tech Plant.

Currently the company rent a warehouse space at the Vernon James Research And Extension Center located five miles outside of Plymouth on Highway 64.

They hope to expand their rice nursery and breeding program, in which local landowners lease their land.

You do not realize that unless you grow it yourself that you foods are GMO'd. You do not have to be a Bio-Tech. major to know this. Although I am a bio-tech major so I knew it anyway.

Yes. Some biotech co's do make the "genetically modified organisms" that are included in our food products. The other day my son wondered if cheese grew on trees, I told him no, but it may one day. Be careful what you put in your body.

Bio-tech company, are they the ones that grow the genetically altered foods?

Good, now lets get our Chamber of Commerce off their buts to advertise our towns and get a little tourism going. Then maybe we could get some big business in here, to create jobs and boost our economy.
