The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of nearly a million Dirt Devil "vacuum power brush attachment tools."
The CPSC says plastic pieces inside the vacuum tool can break apart and spit out of the attachment and possibly cut someone. So far the company has gotten 140 reports of this happening, including 12 injuries.
People who own the attachments should stop using them immediately and contact the manufacturer or dirt devil for a free repair kit.
The tools are manufactured by TTI Floor Care of North America, in Glenwillow, Ohio.
Vacuum tool accessories with date codes J7060 through J7365, which have a c-clip connector, are the subject of this recall. The date code is located on the underside of the vacuum accessory.
They were sold at retail stores from April 2007 through April 2008.
The tool may be clear, red, green, or light blue with clear, light blue, dark blue, red, purple or black turbine fans and matching brush rolls.
