Fire trucks crowded a cul-de-sac in Greenville to fight a house fire early Thursday morning. The rain stopped for crews to fight the fire, though lightning still flashed across the sky at times. Officials believe lightning started the fire at 1695 Cumberland, which is off 14th St. in Greenville.

People in the Scarborough subdivision were out and about to watch the crews fight the fire. A neighbor said a huge boom woke her up around 1 a.m., and she found her own phone cord was smoking. Not too long after that, fire trucks arrived.

No one lives at the house currently. It's on the market to be rented.

BBQ lover, Tanya i don't care what you meant to say, and i don't care what you are, AND i don't care where you go. So you can't assume what I'm going to say. I don't know anything about you, there for your opinion means less to me than a dead bug on my wind shield.

Obama 08 4 Prez, I read the post about James's daughter, I meant to say the house was struck by lightning and burned! Don't tell me to mind my own business! My real isn't name isn't Tanya either, it's fake! I'm also an atheist, so you'll probably tell me I'm going to hell! My answer is, I'll see you there!

Tanya what are you talking about? How about you read a post before you comment. James' daughter wasn't struck by lightning and burnt down. She moved that day before the "HOUSE" was stuck by lightning and burnt down, and call it what you want that was Jesus. You may live your life by luck or coincidence. And why are you even responding to my post? It didn't have anything to do what you! Let me make sure...Nope, Tanya isn't mentioned in my post anywhere. Mind your business.

I'm pretty sure Jesus didn't have anything to do with James's daughter being struck by lightning and burning down. It's called luck or just coincidence!

I'm not the only one who has noticed the recent changes in the 'blurbs' on these stories. They give no information just to get you to read it..find out why no one was home, pretty lame if you ask me...

TO:James...that wasn't luck that was Jesus! You owe all your thanks to your father Lord, and his son Jesus. It wasn't her time to go. Enjoy your daughter James, life is fragile.

My daughter rented that house and yesterday moved out to a new home. It was the first night she wasn't at the house and the house burned. How lucky can a father be?

The little description "Find out why no one was home in the middle of the night" was to lure you to the story and it worked on all 3 of us. LOL! Nice story.

The fire was started by lihtning. No one didn't have to be there. Hello!

"Find out why there was nobody home in the middle of the night"? What difference does that make?
