Hyde County Fire Brings Money To Local Economy
While the Hyde County fire may have a negative impact on the ground, there is some positive news for Eastern Carolina. Some local counties are benefiting from the blaze because the local economy is getting a boost.

While the Hyde County fire may have a negative impact on the ground, there is some positive news for Eastern Carolina. Some local counties are benefiting from the blaze because the local economy is getting a boost.
Many officials working on the fire have called Beaufort County home recently. That means hotels have been booked and restaurants have been busy. Other businesses benefiting from the blaze include local gas stations, office supply stores, rental cars, plumbers, electricians and local auto parts stores. Some local hotel employees are glad to see the business.
High school students are also getting a chance to earn some money. Some Northside High School students have been organizing food for the workers.

In a sense I'm happy for Beaufort Co that all this misfortune has helped their economy and these people were actually closer to Beaufort Co for all these conveniences than they were to the Engelhard end where there are these same provisions other than rental cars and our economy certainly needs all the boosts we can get. Realizing, however that all this many people could not be accomodated but quite a few could have been. Most people here have to spend alot of their hard earned money as it is in Pitt and Beaufort counties for Doctors mostly so these counties already get quiet abit of our money from this area. Thanks again to all the ones in any and every capacity that have helped and are still helping. Am not complaining, just stating a few facts!
