POLICE: Greenville Runaway Leads Kinston Officers On Car Chase

Kinston Police say that a runaway teenager from Greenville, lead officers on a car chase early Sunday morning.

Officials say it happened around 1 a.m. this morning when an officer tried to stop a vehicle with burnt out headlights. We’re told that when the officer tried to stop the vehicle, the 15-year-old behind the wheel took off.

Officers say during the chase they found out the vehicle was recently stolen.

Police say that officers chased the vehicle for 3.7 miles throughout east Kinston until it was involved in a rollover crash at the 2200 block of Cedar Lane. Officials say there were no injuries.

The teenager was arrested and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, felony elude, and no operators license.

The teen was taken to the Pitt Regional Juvenile Center.
