Tryon Palace Hosts Annual Home School Day

Many home schoolers in the east will have the chance to experience a day of activities along with a special history lesson Friday.

Tryon Palace in New Bern is hosting its annual Home School Day Friday, with family as this year's theme.

The Home School Day's "We Are Family" program concentrates on the meaning of family while giving students the chance to participate in games, hands-on activities, and learning about genealogical research through crafts.

The day also includes a tour of the Governor's Palace, admission to two historic homes, 14 acres of gardens, and the galleries in the North Carolina History Center.

While the crafts and games activities are designed for school-age children, some activities may have an age requirement.

Home School Day is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Tryon Palace's NC History Center in New Bern.
